IVF Costs & Fees

At The Fertility Centre, we are committed to making IVF as affordable as possible. In fact, we were Queensland's first low cost IVF clinic. We offer low cost IVF in three convenient Queensland locations – BrisbaneSunshine Coast and the Gold Coast

Our highly experienced team of fertility specialists, nurses and scientists can help make your dream of having a baby come true – without placing stress on your finances.  Our simplified service model allows us to keep treatment costs to a minimum whilst still offering excellent fertility treatment, diagnosis and care.

We offer a comprehensive fertility assessment, bulk billed IVF for couples who are financially stressed, as well as an affordable all-inclusive package designed to save you money during your IVF treatment journey – the “I’m-all-in!” package

How much does a fertility assessment cost?

A fertility assessment can identify why you and your partner are struggling to get pregnant, and help our experienced fertility specialists determine the best treatment option to help you fall pregnant faster.

An initial fertility assessment (male & female) only costs $159 per couple (out-of- pocket, after your Medicare rebates have been claimed).

This includes your initial consultation to discuss your medical history and the coordination of your male and female fertility tests. We bulk bill all possible blood tests and the ultrasound to ensure you receive a thorough assessment at an affordable rate.

How much does IVF cost?

We are very pleased to be able to offer you an all-inclusive treatment package for the low price of $1,590 for your first cycle, and $690 for your subsequent IVF cycles.

The ‘I’m all in!” package will cover all the costs associated with:

1. Your IVF cycle - including ICSI if needed

2. Embryo freezing and 6 months storage

3. Up to 4 subsequent frozen embryo transfers – which will all be bulk billed

The only additional cost you can expect to pay is $150 for your medication. This cost is similar across most IVF clinics, and cannot be bulk billed.

Comparing the cost of IVF across clinics can be very confusing. At The Fertility Centre there are no other costs associated with your procedures – this means absolutely no admission fees and no anaesthetist fees.  This can potentially save you upwards of $600 per IVF cycle and then $600 for every frozen embryo transfer.

The below table indicates the cost of treatment at The Fertility Centre in Queensland, compared to other low cost clinics.

  IVF/ICSI   + 4 frozen embryo transfers IVF/ICSI   + 3 frozen embryo transfers IVF/ICSI   +  2 frozen embryo transfers
The Fertility Centre -  initial cycle and embryo freezing & transfers* $1,590    $1,590 $1,590

Financially Stressed Package

We understand that for some couples, IVF treatment is financially out of reach. It can be stressful when there are thousands of dollars standing between you and pregnancy.

To allow more couples to access the treatment they may need we are pleased to offer our Financially Stressed Package at our Queensland clinics – bulk billed IVF for low income earners.

How do we keep our IVF costs low?

The Fertility Centre offers a comprehensive fertility assessment and IVF or ICSI treatment at a fraction of the cost of the out-of-pocket price of standard full service clinics by:

  • Offering Fertility Specialists on a rotational basis while maintaining the highest continuity of care
  • Sharing a large part of your IVF journey with our experienced Fertility Nurses
  • Bulk billing for all possible pathology tests
  • Using fewer fertility drugs and less hormones that still give you an excellent chance of pregnancy
  • We do not treat complex fertility issues such as those couples requiring donor sperm or for women in their mid-40’s

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to access a little "extra help" to conceive without the concern of stretching your finances, whether it’s your first IVF cycle or whether you’ve previously undergone unsuccessful IVF at another clinic.

Medicare, bulk billing and IVF

Bulk billing is a payment option under the Medicare system of universal health insurance in Australia, where your health professional directly receives the Medicare rebate as full payment for their services. This means you are not required to pay for this service. At The Fertility Centre, we offer bulk billing wherever possible for blood tests, and through our simplified service model, aim to minimise the costs of all other tests and treatments.

We are offering bulk billed IVF in Queensland during February to April 2017.

If your out-of-pocket costs exceed an annual threshold, the Extended Medicare Safety Net (EMSN) provides an additional rebate on top of that covered by the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) for IVF treatments and related costs. It is important to register for the Medicare Safety Net as it is not automatic. Read more about the Medicare Safety Net.

If you are Health Care Concession card holder, the cost of your IVF cycle through The Fertility Centre will be even lower. Find out if you are eligible for a Health Care Concession card.

IVF with no private health insurance

During IVF treatment your private health insurance can only be used to help cover Day Hospital and anaesthetist fees associated with the egg collection. In QLD and NSW, under the simplified treatment model at The Fertility Centre, your eggs are collected at the clinic in our procedure room eliminating the need for admission to a Day Hospital. Therefore you do not need to have private health insurance receive low cost treatment at The Fertility Centre.
